The latest update for TMT3 (.160) now supports integration with the Windows 7 Movie Library!  That means that ripped HDDVD/BD content that appears in the library will launch via the Integrated TMT.

There is at least one company out there that listens to the things we want .... and I thank them.  This is a HUGE benefit for me, personally.

Quick tip: If you want ripped DVDs to launch in TMT to get SimHD support, add a symbolic link named "HVDVD_TS" that points to the "VIDEO_TS" folder of the DVD content.  (From the DVD's root folder, it's "MKLINK /D HVDVD_TS VIDEO_TS".  If you want to undo it, just delete the HVDVD_TS folder, it won't nuke the contents therein.  Caution: Don't do it over mapped network drives, only from the LOCAL drive.

This is good news, but I have to ask how?  AFAIK, the Movie Library looks for Video_TS Folder and not HVDVD_TS or BDMV Folders.  How would you add Ripped HDDVD/BluRay to Movie Library?  Or do you simply just add an empty Video_TS Folder to the Ripped Folder?  I've been ripping HDDVD and BluRay to .m2ts Files and adding an empty Video_TS Folder to get them show in Movie Library.  The advantage is .m2ts is native to 7MC.

7MC regognizes ripped HD-DVD/BD content just fine in the Movies Library.  It does for me, anyway.  I have my precious few HD-DVDs ripped since I don't have an HD-DVD drive anymore, and also test ripped a couple Blu-Rays when 7MC came out to see what would happen.

The trick I mentioned also works if you add a symbolic link named "BDMV" instead of "HVDVD_TS", so 7MC is definately recognizing them.  Again, at least for me (I wouldn't dare presume speaking for anyone else!!)

The Native Movie library looks for the below folders\files. This was a change in RTM

• VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.ifo
• VIDEO.ifo
• BDMV
• BDAV
• HVDVD_TS

That's it, I'm still running RC, not RTM.

This really didnt do much for me... it still has trouble opening and closing, and gives me the MCE error "cannot playback media" or whatever it is.  Once I close that, TMT pops up though.

 I am on win7 RTM, btw.

This works pretty well for me on Win 7 RTM and eliminates one more step in Bluray playback.    However, how do I get the XML files to load the info into movie library for bluray?  The folder.jpgs show up but none of the info in the xml files does (I use my movies to poplulate XML files in the movie directory and this works for DVDs

Any recommendations?

Btw, if you are ripping them to a single file you don't need to do the VIDEO_TS hack. Just set the perceived type to video and they will show there. Let me know if you need help doing so.

Do you mean a .ISO when you say "single file" ? I would definitely welcome an example on how to set the perceived type to video.

The way Windows Media Center works is that it iterates through all your folders, looks like for the folders I mentioned above. It then looks at the files in the folder and calls an API that tells what kind of file it is. That is where this PerceivedType registry key comes in. You shouldn't look at the registry directly as the API does look at a couple different things. I wrote Yammm to mimic this behavior. Once you import this registry key m2ts files will show in W7 RC

Note: This is only needed on Vista or W7 RC. W7 RTM has the key set

If i'm right, to play a BD backup copy, stored on HDD using TMT3, i just need to copy the folder BDVM in the same folder where
i have my DVD backup (VIDEO_TS) ?

Or i need to edit some registry entry to enable it.

Actually i'm not able to play through TMT3 my DVD Movie Library. It still work with W7MC builtin player.

On Windows 7 RTM:

Create a folder C:\Movies and add it to the native movie library.

Install TMT3 with or without SimHD but make sure it is version .160

Store a copy of a  DVD or Blu-Ray Like this:

.\My DVD Title (2009)

VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.ifo

AUDIO_TS\

My DVD Title (2009).dvdid.xml

.\My Blu-Ray Title (2009)

BDMV\

My Blu-Ray Title (2009).dvdid.xml

 Of course there are more files in a copy of a disc, but these are the ones that are at least required.

Okay, now I see how this works.  The way I have my systems set up, all the ripped movies (and music, pictures, videos, etc) are on a single box that serves as a media server.  W7 Media Center accesses these files via the library set up in Media Center.  These are direct shares, i.e., boxname\shared_directory.  As an example "edelan1\My Movies."  In the My Movies directory each ripped movie is in a folder with the movie name followed by the appropriate file type, e.g., VIDEO_TS.  So, when you say don't do it over mapped network drives, I am not sure if it will work for me or not.  The drives are not mapped, just shared.
