Boxee loses focus when using WMC plugin (Win7)

     Hi All,

I am using the awesome new plugin to launch Boxee from within Windows Media Center 7:

    http://boxeewmc.teknowebworks.com

Works great most of the time... but sometimes when I launch Boxee, it doesn't have focus (I can see the Windows taskbar at the bottom of the screen).

A workaround - when this happens, I can hit the green button to turn on WMC, and then I go to WMC shut down icon and "close" WMC.
Then Boxee has full screen focus and I can use it to my heart's content.

    Anyone else experience this?

    Thanks!

I was having the same issue as well. Mine issue seemed to be resolved when I set the windows taskbar to autohide.

Sigh... no that didn't do anything.  I can see the "hidden" taskbar sliver at the bottom, but the Boxee window still isn't active.
If only the plugin could double-check to make sure Boxee has focus... it must not be.

    Any other ideas anyone??

I'll take a look and see if I can grab focus of Boxee after the watcher process starts. I'm not really 100% sure why it happens on some systems but not on others, my HTPC and my dev station both seem not to have this problem.

I have win 7 x32 and x64, both systems do randomly. i was thinking it might be a nice option to set boxee to always on top

I see this intermittently also with both the Boxee and Hulu integration plugins.

I have written a program which ensures Boxee retains focus after launching. You will need to edit the autoexec.py file found inside your boxee/scripts directory, in order to automatically launch a small executable.
Full instructions can be found here: http://nxsfan.co.uk/mediawiki/index.php/MC%2BBoxee_Focus_Issues

Let me know if you have any problems.

Wow nxsfan... that is some good work!

I tested it out, and I think I can say that it works perfectly.
I watched some live TV and then clicked on the Boxee plugin, and I could tell that it WANTED to mess up... i.e. the taskbar showed for about 2 seconds... and then a black cmd prompt screen flashed and Boxee gained focus in fullscreen like it should.

Wonderful fix, I recommend everyone download this if you using the Boxee plugin!!

I'm giving this a try as well.  I lose focus about 50% when launching boxee, never had a problem with the Hulu launch, so hopefully this does the trick!
